Overview
British Airways needed a new careers website to communicate its Employer Value Proposition and provide a modern, people-led experience for candidates. The platform needed to reflect BA's updated brand guidelines and Bagel design system, support the full range of talent audiences required to run a world-leading airline, and give internal teams greater control over content through a CMS.
My role
I was the solo design lead responsible for the end-to-end experience, supported by the Creative Director, Digital Project Managers and development team. My responsibilities included designing core website and CMS-managed pages, creating responsive desktop and mobile interfaces, defining functionality and interaction behaviour, applying WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, adopting the Bagel design system and producing section guidance and Zeplin handovers.
Establishing a people-led direction
The creative direction placed British Airways employees at the centre of the experience. I used prominent photography, clean layouts and generous white space to let the people behind the airline carry the employer story. The visual approach balanced the premium character of the BA brand with the warmth required for employer storytelling, presenting the scale of the organisation while allowing candidates to imagine themselves as part of it.
